In Moana 2, Moana’s heading out on another wild journey with Maui by her side. This time, she’s answering a call from her ancestors to explore the mysterious and dangerous waters of Oceania. It’s unlike anything she’s dealt with before!
The movie really dives into how the ocean can bring people together instead of keeping them apart. It started as a Disney+ series idea, but they decided to go big with a full movie. Great call, right? “Oceania 2” sends Moana on this huge adventure that shows how much she’s grown up and found her true self.
With new writers like Jared Bush (who worked on the first one), Dana Ledoux Miller, and Bek Smith jumping in on this project, they take everything awesome about the first movie and turn it up even more. This time around, Moana’s got an even bigger task: uniting the Pacific Island peoples. Now that she’s leading her village, she’s way more confident than ever! Plus, don’t leave before checking out something special in the end credits—it’s definitely worth sticking around for!
Oh, and there’s also a girl named Vaiana just chilling on her island. She’s curious if there are other humans like her out there—and she’s ready to find out! It’s like when we gaze at the stars dreaming about what else is out there—a truly relatable quest!
In classic Disney fashion, Vaiana starts meeting people from other islands and it’s all about making new friends. But there’s a catch: this bossy god named Nalo isn’t thrilled about humans being chummy. He went so far as to sink an island that connected them all through secret underwater passages! Now Vaiana has this almost impossible mission to find that lost island with just a few tools.
Vaiana isn’t doing this alone—she’s got some quirky companions. Loto, the smart inventor guy, is in on it. There’s the wacky rooster Heihei who doesn’t talk but somehow always makes everyone laugh; Pua, the cutest pig around; and Kele, a helpful farmer lending a hand. Together they embark on this crazy adventure, facing tons of obstacles but winning everyone’s hearts with their strength and teamwork!
There’s also this older guy who’s kinda grumpy and focused on growing food to get by. Plus Moni, who’s super strong and handy when things get tough—but doesn’t show much personality otherwise. And returning for more fun is Maui—the demigod from the first Oceania movie—with his cool tattoos and shape-shifting skills.
To spice things up even more, those kooky Kakamora warriors make quite an impression now—especially Kotu, who moves like a ninja in his coconut armor.
Back at her home turf are her parents and we get introduced to Simea, Vaiana’s younger sister. She’s bursting with energy!
This one’s got all the magic and charm you’d hope for, with Vaiana’s adorable and expressive face making it super easy to fall in love with her.
Things really start getting exciting when Grandma Tala’s spirit shows up to lend a hand. Plus, Tautai Vasa pops in as this wise ancestor who lets Vaiana know there’s more out there past their little island home. And then there’s Matangi, who’s all about mystery and has these flying foxes swooping around—she shakes up everything Vaiana’s ever thought about herself.
And guess what? They’ve added some new tunes! One of them’s called “Perditi,” and it’s really pretty. Okay, they might not stick in your head like some of the earlier songs did, but man, does the animation look amazing!
Visually, it’s stunning! They mix water, earth, fire, and air like never before—it’ll totally blow you away. With directors David G. Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller at the helm, the animation feels both sturdy and smooth at the same time. But honestly? The Ocean steals the show—it’s so lively you’d almost expect it to talk back! It’s wild seeing it come alive on screen!
